Remote Office 365 support – Mini Case Study

One business user of Office 365 contacted us claiming he could no longer connect using Outlook anymore.

Our Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Our technician first ran the Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyser: Available:
  2. The test passed. His connection to the Office 365 servers was good.
  3. It was then deduced that his problem might have been with his profile in Outlook 2013.
  4. Our technician remotely opened up his Outlook 2013 and went to File > Account Settings.
  5. When the Account Settings dialog box opened up, he went to the Email tab and then selected Repair. The repair process ran for approximately six minutes.
  6. Outlook 2013 was restarted and connected perfectly with Office 365 again.

Result: User had a corrupt Outlook 2013 profile. The remote support session remedied his problem successfully and in much less time than it would have taken waiting for a technician to arrive to his office or bringing his laptop to a computer store.
